Hawaii

Arriving from our flight we passed customs and Immigrtion with ease, contrary to stories we have heard every one was friendly and helpful...... Collected our rental "super compact" Toyota corolla and found or hostel, its about 2 mins from Waikiki Beach! Anyway, with the house keeping done we jumped into the car and headed for the North Shore...... What a place! First we had lunch in Wiamea Bay, then we swam in the shore break, turns out its remarkably painful to ride the shore break, the waves are only about 1m high but they suck all the water from in front so you fall from the top of the wave onto essentially bare sand, then get about 2 kgs of sand rammed up you shorts/butt then for the final and most painful part the tow of the residing wave draggs you down the sand, back into the water for another round...despite the bruising and unsolicited exfoliation its great fun.

Following that Kristyn and I cruised the North Shore seeing all the Big Names, Sunset the Bonzai Pipline and genneraly acted like cool surfers. I wore my grazed and bruised chestwith pride, I was just like a local....except fat, white and unable to surf.
