Salut de Saintes

Bonjour! Cava? Pascal et moi allez bien.
Nous sommes en Saintes pour 6 semaines avec Grand mere et Grand pere.

Saintes is a small village in the south west of France, where Pascals grandparents live. Very cool here, its about the size of Timaru and already proving to be quite an adventure!!

There is nothing quite like a french market in a small village. They have them in Saintes everyday in different areas and seem to be more like a social g
athering for the older french. There are tables full of every kind of fish, meat (including horse!), veges, fruit and freshly made cr
ossiants and pain au chocolat! SO GOOD!
Once a month they have a different market that sells everything and anything you can think of. It was here that Pascal started looking to steer me away in a different direction. WOW the shoes are incredible and so cheap!!
Girls you have to come to France and go shopping at the local markets!!

Pascal and I had a great idea that we would walked to the next
village called Chapelle des Pots. In the car its about 5min drive through the country side, so it sounded like a nice relaxing walk.
Imagine now..........walking on a road that is extremley narrow with no room on either side. Now add in a few cars and buses, and add in some very aggressive fast french drivers on the road. And last, but not least add in 2 kiwis on a relaxing walk, not sure exactly where they are going.
I was scared for my life!!! Here we were on this bloody small road trying to go for a relaxing walk, and every 2min a car would come by and we would have to jump into the bush or grab a tree, trying not to get run over!
Whilst trying to hire DVD's we met this really funny french guy. He wo
rks in the video store and Im sure that he has watched way too many American gangster films!
As he could tell we werent french he spoke english to us. But it was really weird! If you think back to cheesy american ganster films or ones like Terminator, thats exaclty what his accent was like!! I think he learnt english from watching all these films, was very funny!

Other than the walk, the rest of Saintes has been relaxing after a month of travelling round and trying to adjust to the everchanging time of each country.
We are off to Bordeaux this weekend to catch up with some friends and then the next weekend we are going to Paris.

We have started to look for an apartment for Edinburgh for when we get there mid Jan. Haha we have already got a waiting list of people who are coming to stay with us! So if you want to come and see us in Scotalnd, get your name down now!!!!

I hear its a great summer already back home. Im really hoping for a white christmas here!
Hope everyone is well xxxxx
